Jimmy Kimmel Shares New Footage of Son Billy's Health Battle to Urge Fans to 'Vote with Your Heart'

Jimmy Kimmel is sharing never-before-seen glimpses at his youngest child's health battle in order to encourage fans to "vote with your heart."

On Thursday's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the late-night host, 52, introduced a video segment that tracked the hospital visits and surgeries he and wife Molly McNearney attended for their then-newborn son, William “Billy” John, who is now 3.

Kimmel and McNearney — who also share daughter Jane, 6 — overcame a hard first year with their baby son, as he had to undergo three heart surgeries (one when he was just 3 days old) after he was born with the congenital heart condition, tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia.

In sharing the emotional, personal new photos and videos of Billy (compiled by McNearney), Kimmel aimed to put health care at the forefront of voters' minds heading into the Nov. 3 election.

"I want to bring us back to focus on something we can't afford to forget, and that is health care," he said. "The vast majority of this country believes that health insurance should cover Americans with preexisting conditions."

Through the video, McNearney presents photos and clips of Billy just after birth, his stint in the NICU, and at his many hospital visits. The video points out Billy's three heart surgeries and says he has had over 60 doctor appointments in his three years of life.

While addressing President Donald Trump's attacks on the Affordable Care Act and the potential ramifications for families with a loved one who has preexisting conditions, McNearney writes: "Mom's don't forget. Please vote."

At the end of the video, the family showcases their happy son today, as he smiles, jumps and plays with his big sister.

"We are raising him to fight for less fortunate kids," writes McNearney. "Americans take care of one another. Vote with your heart."

Jimmy Kimmel's Daughter Jane Gives Him a Colorful Makeover for At-Home Show

Kimmel — who also has two older children, Kevin and Katie, from a previous relationship — first opened up about his son’s situation in May 2017, with a tearful monologue on his show. And in April 2018, Kimmel shared details with Oprah Winfrey about the feelings of detachment he and his wife felt, out of fear.

“There were secrets we kept from each other that we revealed only after the second surgery. The biggest one was that, I think subconsciously, we didn’t want to get too close to the baby because we didn’t know what was going to happen,” Kimmel said in an interview for O, The Oprah Magazine's April 2018 issue.

Amy Duggar King Claps Back After Fan Tells Her to Have More Children: 'I'm Flabbergasted'

Amy (Duggar) King is firing back after receiving an unwanted message from a social media user who told the mother of one to “pick up the pace” when it came to having more children.

Amy, whose son Daxton Ryan celebrated his first birthday last week, shared on Sunday that although she “tried so hard” not to publicly respond to the DM, she felt compelled to “speak my mind.”

“I think what really got to me was the fact that this total stranger apparently knows my body so well!?” wrote Amy, who is the daughter of Jim Bob Duggar's older sister Deanna. “I'm flabbergasted that someone would have the audacity to type these words to anyone!! I mean. Who in their right mind says ‘I think your body is ready to pop out more kids’ to a total stranger?!”

In the message, which Amy shared a screenshot of on Instagram, the stranger wrote, “Aren’t you a little behind some other famous people who are having 4 babies by the time they are 20."

“I think your body is fine to have more,” they continued. “You have a fun life but don’t be selfish with your life. Pick up the pace you should have been pregnant again like yesterday.”

Whew! Ok..I'm just going to leave this here… I tried so hard not to post this . But . I literally had to speak my mind! ( when have I not?) This is a message I received yesterday. I think what really got to me was the fact that this total stranger apparently knows my body so well!?🥴 and literally tells me that my body is ok to produce more childen. Ready for my rant!? Of course you are!! ◇ First off I'm flabbergasted that someone would have the audacity to type these words to anyone!! I mean. Who in their right mind says " I think your body is ready to pop out more kids" to a total stranger?!🙄 This is for all the "Karen's out there." ◇My body has been through alot and it gave me the sweetest boy ever. Yes of course it was worth it. But I still need to heal. C- sections are no joke and vertigo is/ was very hard on me. I still get dizzy sometimes but I'm getting stronger everyday. ◇ Also. I AM TIRED. Anyone else!? This pandemic has been so rough on so many people and my business has taken a hit just like so many others. I need to be on my A game. I need to give it my all . I need to stay creative and focus on 3130. Children are such a blessing, but I can't imagine being pregnant again right now. I'd be unmotivated, emotional, stressed out and not in a good head space and that's ok to admit. ◇ I'm a very hands on mom, and I also want to give my son my full attention. This toddler stage is so amazing and I don't want to miss a thing!◇ A women's body is not a factory!! Yes our bodies can do miraculous things! But I hate that phrase" pop out" umm. No. It's WORK. And our bodies go through alot! ◇ I am an only child, and I think I grew up just fine. So cheers to the mama's who decide to have one child! Honestly we are teetering on that idea. ◇ Some women are designed not to have large families. I am one of them. Too much noise, chaos , it's just not for me. But kudos to those mama's who do! God gave you super human strength ◇ Deep down even though in a way it terrifies me I'd love to foster or adopt. ◇ It's exhausting always being compared to other people. I'm in my thirties now, away from that show and I'm so over it. It just has to stop.

Although pregnancy gave Amy the “sweetest boy ever,” it was also tough on her body.

“Yes of course it was worth it. But I still need to heal. C- sections are no joke and vertigo is/ was very hard on me. I still get dizzy sometimes but I'm getting stronger everyday,” she wrote. “Also. I AM TIRED.”

“This pandemic has been so rough on so many people and my business has taken a hit just like so many others. I need to be on my A game. I need to give it my all,” she added. “Children are such a blessing, but I can't imagine being pregnant again right now. I'd be unmotivated, emotional, stressed out and not in a good head space and that's ok to admit.”

Continuing, the mom of one wrote, ”A women's [sic] body is not a factory!! Yes our bodies can do miraculous things! But I hate that phrase ‘pop out’ umm. No. It's WORK."

Even though the Duggar family may be ever-growing, Amy pointed out that “some women are designed not to have large families.”

“I am one of them,” she wrote. “Too much noise, chaos, it’s just not for me. But kudos to those mama’s who do! God gave you super human strength.”

“I am an only child, and I think I grew up just fine. So cheers to the mama's who decide to have one child!” she wrote, before going on to share that “even though in a way it terrifies me,” she and husband Dillon King haven’t ruled out fostering or adopting another child.

Sharing one final sentiment, Amy expressed that she’s “over” being compared to others. “It's exhausting always being compared to other people. I'm in my thirties now, away from that show and I'm so over it,” she wrote. “It just has to stop.”

In honor of her son’s milestone birthday, Amy recently reflected on her life-changing year.

“Oct 9th 2019 changed my entire world! To the c-section, the vertigo for 8 months, the breastfeeding, the late sleepless nights to the greasy hair, and the giggles,” she wrote, alongside a sentimental video highlighting some of her most special memories with her son.

“My heart skips a beat every time he wraps his hand around my finger, his beautiful red hair!! We tell everyone it's Heaven sent! I also can't get enough cuddles!” she continued. “And now to see his tiny feet walk toward me. Completely melts me!!.. my heart is yours sweet baby boy!!

Kavanagh then sweetly kneels down to kiss Murphy's stomach and the pair share a sweet slow dance together.

"Excited to announce…We’re having a BABY GIRL!!!!💝" Murphy, 33, captioned the clip.

"This is how I surprised Alex that the future is female🎉🎉🎉 " she wrote, adding the hashtags, "its a girl," "baby girl," "girldad" and "thefutureisfemale."

Kavanagh also shared the video to his Instagram Stories, noting that he "had no idea" his fiancée would be surprising him after he returned from a photoshoot.

Several Bachelor Nation stars commented on Murphy's post to congratulate the couple.

"YAYYYY!!!!! 🤗💕 This is so exciting! So far, i can say girls are soooo much fun!" wrote Tenley Molzahn.

Sharleen Joynt added, "YOU GUYSSSS 😍😍😍 CONGRATULATIONS!!!"

Last month, Murphy, who was on season 17 of The Bachelor, announced that she and Kavanagh are expecting their first child together. Sharing a black-and-white video of the couple dancing in their kitchen to the fitting tune "Be My Baby" by The Ronettes, Murphy joked in the caption, "Started from the kitchen now we're here 👩‍❤️‍👨👼🏼."

"Baby Kavanagh taking flight in 2021! Finally someone to occupy the middle seat :)," she continued. "@drone.pilot and I couldn't be more excited to grow our little family!!!"

Kavanagh wrote in a comment, "You're going to be the most incredible mother my love @lesleyannemurphy and I can't wait to be a father ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️."

Murphy and Kavanagh confirmed their engagement to PEOPLE this past February. The proposal news came just over a year after she introduced Kavanagh on Instagram, nine months following her split from Dean Unglert.

"It was such a special night on the beach during sunset. We met a couple of years ago through a drone, and being the exceptional drone pilot he is, I loved that he incorporated a drone in the most unique way during the proposal," Murphy said in a statement at the time. "I can't wait to marry this man! 2020 is our year!"

In July, Murphy opened up in a lengthy Instagram post about being part of the group of brides who've had to postpone wedding plans as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to play out. Sharing a snapshot of herself in a wedding dress "from [her] one and only try-on session right before quarantine hit," she encouraged other brides-to-be to "take back the control."

"Allow the ease to return. Choose joy. Let go of perfection," The Road Les Traveled blogger advised. "And always remember this: There are *no* rules. I'm wearing my wedding band and haven't even planned a wedding! Who cares! Do what makes *you* and your partner happy. Our day in that white dress will come."
